A line edit focuses on the way your writing works at the sentence and paragraph level, looking at areas such as:

Rate: Starts at $0.04 per word

There are different levels of copyediting—light, medium, and heavy—which focus on areas such as:

- Grammar, punctuation, and spelling;
- Consistency;
- Style guide adherence.

Rate: Starts at $0.03 per word

Proofreading is the last step after your writing is copyedited and formatted for production and focuses on areas such as:

- Lingering grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors;
- On-page layout;
- Typesetting issues.

Rate: Starts at $0.02 per word

I work with academic professionals preparing journal articles, book manuscripts, and other scholarly writing for publication. I can help strengthen clarity and flow, ensure consistency with journal or style-guide requirements, check citations and references, and reduce manuscript length when needed.

For academic professionals seeking editing support, I provide the following services:

Rate: $65/hour (line editing); $55/hour (copyediting)

Costs vary depending on the project and the level of editing required. In general, I charge by the word;
however, if you would prefer an overall project rate or an hourly rate, that’s workable as well. (My rates fall within the
median ranges reported by the Editorial Freelancers Association.)
